The City of Kampala
The City of Kampala is the host of the 2008 World Championship in Cooperation
representing the African continent. Various local and international NGOs are the organizing
partner in this global event for children and youths.
The City of Stockholm
The City of Stockholm hosted the World Championship in Cooperation in June 2006
representing the European continent. Schools and preschools in Stockholm City districts
prepared for their host assignments: to receive guests from around the world.
The Swedish Parliament
The creation of the Future Vessel during the World Championship in Cooperation, 1st-2nd of
June 2006 took place at Riksplan, the area outside the House of Parliament.
The Stockholm City Museum
The Stockholm City Museum (Stockholms Stadsmuseum) made its premises available as
Meeting Point for the people who wish to participate and prepare for the event.
Swedish Cities & Municipalities
32 Swedish Cities/Municipalities were main partners in preparations and implementation of
the event. The City Councils of these cities/municipalities have united forces in a “Promise
for the Future”, which inspires and challenges all involved. Several of these
cities/municipalities invite their twin cities in other parts of the world to join.
The Swedish Association of Local Authorities & Regions
CREA21 The Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR) together with
the Swedish (Governmental) Children’s Ombudsman and representatives from Save the
Children are partners in a network called CREA 21 (Creative Union of the Rights of the Child
and Agenda 21). Globetree initiated the network to inspire all to find innovative and inspiring
action-oriented solutions to the two UN documents: The Rights of the Child and Agenda 21.
CREA 21 is the platform for the World Championship in Cooperation.
UNEP (United Nations Environment Program)
Activities during the World Environment Day are planned in cooperation with UNEP and
international preparations are ongoing at the Children’s Meeting Place at the United Nations,
Nairobi (Kenya) – Headquarters for UNEP and UN Habitat.
Tree Theatre Group (TTG) Malaysia
A Malaysian NGO facilitating the expression of the voices of the children and youth on issues
impacting them including the environment through the performing arts. Also the lead
coordinator of the proposed World Tree Day.
Association of Space Explorers
ASE (Association of Space Explorers) has participated in several global events organized by
Globetree since The Future Vessel Event at the Globe Arena, Stockholm 1998.
LVRLAC
Lake Victoria Region Local Authorities Cooperation has established a formal cooperation
with Globetree with financial support from Sida (The Swedish International Development
Authority). The Lake Victoria and Baltic Sea Regions will be an anchor of the World
Championship in Cooperation.
The Swedish Children’s Ombudsman
The Swedish Children’s Ombudsman plan to invite all Children’s Ombudsman from around
the world to a conference in conjunction with the event.
GIWA
Global International Water Assessment supports the event with scientific input and will inform
leaders of water regions in the world.(http://www.giwa.net/news/globetree.phtml )
SIWI - Stockholm International Water Institute
Cooperation with Children’s water Way and Children’s dialogue with the Mayors at the
Stockholm Water Symposium.
IIIEE
The International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics, in Lund (Sweden)
students and lecturers from their global network called Young Masters Program.
KTH The Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm
Supports the event with scientific know-how of the water projects and to Globetree scientific
base.
Integrationsverket
The Swedish Integration Board participated in the World Championship in Cooperation.
EU
The European Union as advisor and observer for the championship through their Inter-
institutional Relations and Communications Strategy Unit. EU Commission in Brussels has
the “Mother Tree” for the children’s meeting place for Europe. The African “Mother Tree” is
at the UN grounds in Nairobi, Kenya.
Children’s Garden and Pillars of Hope
Children’s Garden and Pillars of Hope, Nairobi (Kenya) work with street children, orphanage
children, children living in slum areas, children with HIV/Aids, children with physical handicaps
and sexually abused children. These children and their leaders are advisors and guides in
the preparations for the World Championship in Cooperation.
