The WorldCiC a global initiative by the Globetree Movement from Sweden a leading NGO that
combines arts and children & youths issues as a facilitating method (www.worldcic.org)
will be hosted by the City Council of Kampala from June 2-6, 2008 in Kampala, Uganda .
stakeholders including NGOs, Multi-Lateral International Agencies such as Unicef, Unesco, Unep
and local governments such as the Lake Victoria Region Local Authorities Cooperation
(LVRLAC), The Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR) and respective
Education, Gender, Environment, Youth and Child Development Ministries and Departments.
The WorldCiC is guided by the philosophy and objectives in meeting the UN Millennium
Development Goals (MDG) specifically through the Convention on the Rights of the Child,
Agenda 21, as well as the report by UNESCO, "Our Creative Diversity".
The WorldCiC facilitates dialogue and creating conversations in a cooperative rather than
competitive spirit (hence the name World Championship in Cooperation) by allowing the children
and youth to formulate and propose solutions to issues impacting them for action and
implementation-commitments from the adult stakeholders (namely the local government level
through the mayors where most programs are funded and coordinated that has a direct impact
on children and youth development).
The WorldCiC main events include:
• Our Uniting Waters Ceremony -from all waters collected and brought by the
delegates from around the world reflecting the Oneness of Humanity.
• The Parade - in traditional costumes reflecting cultural heritage and diversity leading
to unity in humanity.
• Seminars/Workshops - on issues impacting children & youths such as access to
education, health and other relevant social services for the marginalised and issues
of child-participation & empowerment.
• The Future Vessel – an integrative art expression assembling event.
• The Mayors Meeting - to deliberate on a common resolution by local governments
to implement the solutions proposed by the children & youths.
• The Gold Medal Closing Ceremony - where ALL the delegates receive a Gold
Medal each as everyone are Winners and Champions in the World Championship
of Cooperation.
